12 years ago as wild blueberries blossomed in the shield country of Eastern Ontario, Kate Weekes stuck her thumb out on the Trans-Canada Highway. Following a path carved by beat poets, draft dodgers and dreamers, Kate left her home and hitch-hiked to Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory. Within days of arriving, she headed down the Yukon River on a 2 week canoe trip to Dawson City. Thus began Kate’s love of wilderness adventure and over a decade of dog mushing, canoeing and hiking north of 60. Kate graduated from Yukon College in 2016 with a diploma in Northern Studies and is excited to share her enthusiasm for the Yukon’s cultural and natural history with guests during her second season of guiding for Sea to Sky Expeditions. Kate is a certified Wilderness First Responder and Lake Water Instructor. Her urban identity is as a singer-songwriter and touring artist with 5 CDs to her credit.
